After 15 years designing sweaters in New York’s knitting mills, I stepped away to raise my daughters. Years later, one of them rediscovered a sweater I’d made in Brooklyn and asked, “Mom, why don’t you make sweaters again?”

That question sparked MADE*HERE NEW YORK™ — a brand dedicated to creating beautiful, locally made sweaters and blankets, while supporting New York manufacturing. The decline in establishments making knitted apparel in New York is dramatic and sad. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were 283 Apparel Knitting Mills in 1998, and there were 44 in 2011. Our brand is happy to work with a local factory where I design and develop stitches for all of our blankets.
